»Rewitching Europe« deals with the witch hunts in Europe as a central turning point in history: when Europe destroyed its connection to indigenous knowledge and indigenous culture, and patriarchy, colonialism and capitalism violently established their dominance.
At the Goddess Temple created by Delaine Le Bas and Alissa Kolbusch, theatre shaman and Gorki resident director Yael Ronen, together with many guests, invites the audience to participate in workshops, discussions, rituals and ceremonies, in order to practise the culture of the post-patriarchy. In this »rewitching« means: Remember, Reclaim and Recreate! The first day, »Remember«, remembers lost knowledge and attempts to revive it. »Reclaim«, the second day, reclaims the things that witches were accused of and practises re-appropriation as empowerment. On the third day, »Recreate«, activists, primarily young people, present visions for an alternative future.
