Conference Day 2

De-heimatize Belonging

11 – 12:30 AM
PANEL 4: WHAT DOES IT MEAN IN ACTION?

Host: Dr. Emilia Roig and Center for Intersectional Justice

The Center for Intersectional Justice (CIJ) panel will focus on the transformative process inherent to an intersectional perspective in the field of arts and culture. This panel discusses the interaction of academia and political action on the ground. What concrete steps can be taken to bring our vision to life? How can we intervene in the public discourse and change the dominant narrative to include marginalised perspectives? How to circumvent the hurdles induced by funding policy - both public and private? We will also delve into the creative process that is so central to an intersectional approach: What does radical transformation look like? How can we leave »the master’s tools« behind - to borrow from Audre Lorde - and create new ones?
