Arkadi Zaides

Arkadi Zaides is a visual artist and choreographer. Born in Belarus, he immigrated to Israel and is currently based in France. His works have been presented in dance and theater festivals, museums and galleries across the globe. Zaides addresses social and political issues, previously focusing on the Israeli/Palestinian context, and currently on the European one. His artistic practice concentrates on the body as a medium through which said issues are experienced most accurately.

He shares NECROPOLIS a project based on the list registering 34,361 deaths of refugees and migrants who have attempted to reach Europe since 1993. Arkadi Zaides and his team delve into the practice of forensics to conceive a new virtual database, documenting the remains of those whose death is to this day mostly unacknowledged.
