Struggle for Just Peace Through Peace Negotiations by Fidel Agcaoili

Scores for National Democracy

Fidel Agcaoili, chief negotiator of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines, talks about the nuances of the peace process between the people’s democratic government the NDFP represents and the Government of the Republic of the Philippines—two sovereign forces at war since the late ‘60s.

The discussion takes place at Maxim Gorki Theater as a part of »Scores for National Democracy«. SND is a work presented by Donna Miranda at the Theater’s fourth edition of the Herbstsalon, casting light on the national democratic revolution being waged in the Philippines as a movement organized by and through the several documents it produces as a collection of what could be considered ‘scores.’ One such score is the NDFP draft of the Comprehensive Agreement on Social and Economic Reforms—the centerpiece of the peace talks which aspires to codify into a concrete program the policy measures by which national democracy can be achieved towards reaching a #JustPeace.

It takes place on November 2, 5pm to 7pm, at the Kaiserstube of the Maxim Gorki Theater. The space is adjacent to the Reading Room of SND, which presents a partial archive of documents from both the legal mass movement and the revolutionary underground.
