ORANIENPLATZ – WAS BLEIBT?

INSTALLATION, 2019

The installation at Oranienplatz in Kreuzberg refers to former announcement boards at the so-called sector border between East and West Berlin before the Berlin Wall was built. These should encourage the residents of East Berlin to attend cultural events in West Berlin. 30 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Langkafel's intervention raises questions about the current condition of society.

UTE LANGKAFEL, living in Berlin since 1989, is a visual artist and art producer. She founded the MAIFOTO Gallery in Berlin in 2002 and has been stage photographer at the Maxim Gorki Theater since 2014.
