Lee Cheah Ni

Lee Cheah Ni is an art practitioner, independent curator and cultural researcher, active in Malaysia. She is engaged in community-based art and in the documentation of George Town/ Penang`s local history. She is collaborating with NGOs and human rights organizations, looking for strategies to address social issues within Penang’s communities while exploring possibilities to generate dialogue through art.

She shares her experiences with how art projects can maximize public participation in a community, based on Re:engage:The People’s Court -a site-specific project aiming to bring arts into the ordinary living space and On The Way - Walkability, Sensibility, Sense of Belonging, a program, which demonstrates the negotiation amongst different parties on public decision-making and Ruang Kongsi, an independent library.
