Performance, 2019

In a reenactment Ehlers whips a white canvas and raises complex questions and thoughts: What are the consequences of colonial structures? Whip it good! was first performed in Berlin 2013 at BE.BOP. Ehlers is showing her performance again in memory of Allana Lockward, who died in 2019 and was the curator of BE.BOP.

Jeannette Ehlers, lives in Copenhagen, completed her studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2006. For years she has been creating filmic universes dealing with the themes of ethnicity and identity, inspired by her own Danish / Caribbean background.
