Inspired by the experiences and observations from the past year, when he lived between Germany and Nigeria, Karo Akpokiere realized a series of drawings. This forms a kind of diary of the artist’s experiences, which also include his impressions of getting involved with people from the Oranienplatz occupation. In the drawings he makes use of hand drawn typography and everyday found objects to tell familiar stories in different ways.
Karo Akpokiere, born 1981 in Nigeria, lives and works in Lagos, Nigeria. Exhibitions of his works at the South London Gallery (2011), the 56th Biennale di Venezia (2015) and the Vitra Design Museum, Weil am Rhein (2015) among others.
