Hakan Savaş Mican’s video work is an essay on history. Starting from iconic images of escape or fleeing and displacement, he interrogates his own emotions of indifference and distance. Central to the work are conversations with three left-behind women from three generations in his family: his sister, mother and grandmother. Mican is looking for a 100-year-old scar in order to answer the question: »Why do I always think of those who were left behind?«

Hakan Savaş Mican, born 1978 in Berlin, lives and works in Berlin. Productions at the Ballhaus Naunynstraße, Berlin, Staatstheater Mainz and Maxim Gorki Theater, Berlin, among others, where he also took part in the Berliner Herbstsalon in 2013.
