Corridor X
,

2006-2013 ongoing, Two double-channel video installations

The road movie Corridor X examines the highway that connects Germany with Greece and Turkey, following the historic routes of the Baghdad Railway and the “Highway of Brotherhood and Unity”. Until the Yugoslavian wars, Corridor X was the main axis for migrant workers travelling to Northern Europe. The postscript to Corridor X brings us to Chalkidiki in Northern Greece, the site of ongoing grassroots struggles against large-scale mining projects, emblematic of the exploitative power relations within the European Union and a powerful example of contemporary “disaster capitalism”.

Corridor X is a Timescapes Project (2006) and is based on a collective video editing project with VIDEA (Turkey), Dragana Zarevac (Belgrade), Freddy Viannelis (Athens) and Hito Steyerl (Berlin). The postscript to Corridor X (2013) was realised in collaboration with Angela Anderson.
